Homework

The recommended amount of time for homework each day is approximately
30 minutes. During this time, students should read from the leveled reader
that they will be bringing home each day. This is also a good time to study
this week's spelling words. A current list will always be posted on the
Teacher Web Site. Often a phonics sheet will be sent home. The back of each
worksheet is homework that reviews both new and previously learned
information. Please help your child complete the homework and practice
reading the worksheets.

It is a good idea to review addition and subtraction math facts to 20 using
flash cards. These can be store bought or homemade. You should practice
identifying coins and counting money. We will be learning to tell time to the
quarter hour, so practice this skill whenever you can. Each Monday a review
sheet will be sent home covering concepts taught the previous week. The
children are asked to complete the work during the week and to return it no
later than Friday. Hopefully this will give you, the parents, a chance to see
what we are working on and to help review any concepts your child is
struggling with.

Don't forget to spend time visiting with your child about his or her day.
You might be surprised by what you learn!
