At the begining of each quarter your child will take the STAR Reading
test. The results from that test gives me a good idea of where your child is
reading. Based on that as well as what I know about your child, I give each
student a reading range and a point goal to reach for that quarter.

This program is effective because it is INDIVIDUALIZED for each student as
well as provide incentive for your child to develop the wonderful habit of
reading. ***Because it is individualized, your child is given a goal that is
expected for them to reach. In order for them to be successful, they must
work at it, and read every day.

They get about 30 minutes at school, and should read 20-30 minutes at home.
In order for them to read their book at school it is really important that
they have their book with them.

Once your child has read a book they must take a test on it. They have
opportunity to take a test every day. Three days a week we go to the
computer lab, and then the other two they can use the computer in the
classroom. They must remember to ask! They can also take tests over books
read to them. We go to library once a week, but they can go if they have a
free moment during class.
