Desktop Publishing/Adobe Suite

Students will learn the basics of color and design associated with print materials as well as copyright basics. Students will acquire fundamental skills in image creation and management procedures and enhancement techniques using the Adobe CS3 Suite. Each of the following will be presented in one of three nine-week periods: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. In the fourth nine-weeks of this course students will complete "live work" projects as well as learn more techniques and apply them to a major project. If desired, at this time student may also choose to concentrate on the Adobe application of their choiceThe organization and delivery of instruction in this course will adhere to the model as developed by the Business and Information Technology Education (BITE) division of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.  Further, use of the 21st Century Classroom Learning Laboratories will ensure active teaching and learning.


Successful completion of this course will allow the student to transfer toFrancis Tuttle Technology Center and apply coursework to the Career Majors of Desktop Publisher/Graphic Designer, Multimedia Production Assistant, Multimedia Producer, or Animator within the Information Technology Cluster of Interactive Media.  Successful completion is determined by 85% course grade and mastery of the Career Tech BrainBench required test(s):  Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
