I have been a Career & Technology Educator in the Business Division of the
State Department of Career & Technology for 16 years. I spent my first
eleven years at U. S. Grant in Oklahoma City, my alma mater. I became a
National Board Certified Teacher in 2006. My husband is an educator also.
He is also very involved in adult training for Boys Scouts of America. I
also have two sons--each an Eagle Scout.
Each class I teach is a partnership between Deer Creek High School and
Francis Tuttle Technology Center. My goal is to offer students the
opportunity to gain skills needed to enter a technology field or perhaps
advance to Francis Tuttle Technology Center during high school to complete a
program in their chosen career area. Whether college bound or heading right
into the work force, the skills learned through their technology training as
well as skills such as time management, work ethic, teamwork, problem
solving, and critical thinking will prove to be valuable employability skills
in the future of each student.
Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a co-curricular national student
organization. Through involvement with BPA, students will have the
opportunity to participate in leadership activities such as civic and
service projects, citizenship and safety programs, and individual
recognition through the Torch Awards Program. Students will also have the
opportunity to compete in state and national competitions in a variety of
business areas as well as attend state and national conferences.
