Daily Events and Homework

Monday, Oct. 6th:
~~Today we will finish our density labs using our laptops, and we will look
again at the virtual density lab using the internet on the laptops.
HOMEWORK:  none

Tuesday, Oct. 7th:
~~Floating and Sinking Demo--students will calculate the densities of
several objects, and predict where they will go when dropped in our class
density column.
HOMEWORK:  none

Wednesday, Oct. 8th:
~~HOT AIR BALLOONS! We will now begin building hot air balloons to help us
learn how temperature affects density.
HOMEWORK:  none

Thursday, Oct. 9th:
~~Hot air balloon building continued....
HOMEWORK:  none

Friday, Oct. 10th:
~~Hot air balloon building continued; we launch on Monday!!

~~~~~Previous Week~~~~~
Monday, Sept. 29th:
~~Today we will go over density in depth.  Students will record vocabulary
terms and definitions into their notebooks, and we will read two articles
together to help us gain an understanding of what density is and how to
calculate it.
HOMEWORK:  Make sure you have all terms and definitions copied completely in
your binder!
Tuesday, Sept. 30th:
~~Laptops!  We will use laptops today to conduct a density lab to practice
calculating the density of blocks and irregularly shaped objects.
HOMEWORK:  none
Wednesday, Oct. 1st:
~~We will finish our lab and look at our results to determine which objects
will float and which will sink based on their densities.  We will also use
the laptops to look at a "virtual density lab."
HOMEWORK:  none
Thursday, Oct. 2nd:
~~Gummy in my Tummy!  Students will use Gummy Bears to demonstrate how the
density of a substance can change.  We will calculate the density of the
bears before and after a 24 hour soak in water.
HOMEWORK:  none
Friday, Oct. 3rd:
~~Gummy in my Tummy, Part 2.  Students will remove their bears from their
overnight soaking in water, and they will recalculate their densities.
HOMEWORK:  Students that have signed up for the bonus chapter need to
schedule a time to take their test next week.  Make sure you study Chapter
19 for the bonus test.
