About The Teacher

I grew up in Weatherford, Oklahoma and come from a family of teachers.
I knew from a very young age that this is what I wanted to do! I think it's
in my genes! After graduating from Weatherford High School, I attended
Oklahoma State University where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in
Elementary Education with a Middle School Science Certification. After
graduation, I received my first teaching position at Stillwater Middle
School teaching 7th grade science. While teaching in Stillwater, I also
obtained my Master's Degree in Natural and Applied Sciences and now also
hold a certification to teach high school chemistry.
In 2005 my husband was transferred to Edmond, and I spent the '05-'06
school year teaching 7th grade science at Hefner Middle School in the Putnam
City School District. We live in the Deer Creek District, so as soon as a
science opening occurred at DCMS, I jumped on it! This is my 11th year of
teaching middle school science, and I am very happy to be at DCMS.
My husband and I are the proud parents of two girls, Kamdyn-age 8 and
Hayley-age 4. Kamdyn is a happy "Lil' Antler" attending Rose Union
Elementary!

Mission For The Class

The 8th grade science team will work as a cooperative group to discover,
explore, and learn scientific concepts while being engaged in fun activities.
Students will be expected to be responsible and respectful, as well as
studious. The role of the 8th grade science teacher is to monitor, lead, and
provide creative activities in which the students can be actively learning
as true scientists. 8th grade science will be fun, as well as meaningful,
and a great learning experience.
