--------------------------------------
What is my homework policy?
Since homework is supposed to be a reinforcement of a lesson and a means of
assessment for me, I feel any assignment given must be brought to class
completed. If a student has not completed the assignment, they can bring it
in the next day for a maximum of 70 points. An assignment that is two days
late will receive no better than a 50% and a three day late assigmment must
still be completed but the student will receive no credit for it. A missing
assignment after the third day can be replaced with an alternative assignment
for a diminished grade.
--------------------------------------
What is my grading policy?
All work that a student does is assessed. Since I take many different types
of assessment like papers, tests, observations, lab reports, etc., each is
equally weighted and based on 100 percent.
--------------------------------------
Do I offer extra credit?
Extra credit is available in three options for the student that has earned a
70 or below on a paper or test and would like to improve their grade : 1)
they can read a current events article (The student can remove one off my
bulletin board and write a one page summary), or 2)correct the paper showing
what they did wrong (incorrect questions should be listed on a separate sheet
of paper with the correct answers and where they found them, or 3) bonus
quizzes from Latin and Greek List
Options 1 or 2 must be completed the day after they received the
unsatisfactory grade. I will not accept an article or corrected paper weeks
later. THE EXTRA CREDIT OPTION 1 & 2 ONLY APPLIES TO GRADES OF 70 OR BELOW.
I
appreciate a student wanting extra credit to achieve a higher grade no matter
what the number, but do not have the opportunity to grade all of them!
--------------------------------------
What behaviors really jerk my chain?
I enjoy teaching in a relaxed environment and encourage participation and
active learning. I really get upset though when there is a student that
tries to take over the classroom through their behavior, when a student comes
to class unprepared, when a student is careless with classroom materials, or
when a student is disrespectful to me or his/her peers.
--------------------------------------
What are my expectations for any student in my classroom?
I expect every student to come to class prepared to do their best; this
means coming with their supplies, being on their best behavior, and ready to
participate and learn. I also expect each student to treat every other
student, as well as myself, with the dignity and respect every person
deserves.
--------------------------------------
How often are labs?
My teaching philosophy is a very hands-on approach, so I like to have some
sort of lab or activity regularly. I will aim for one/week, with the idea
that some weeks might have two or more, and another week might not have any.

How can you reach me?
E-mail is definitely the best way - adamsd@deercreek.k12.ok.us - but you can
also call and leave a message. If you desire an "in person" visit, please
make arrangements with me for either before or after school, not during the
school day.
