Hello and Welcome to DCMS! This is my fourth year here at the school and I
am thrilled to be part of such a wonderful school and district.
Not only am I a teacher in the district, but I also have 2 boys that
are "Antlers". Corey is a 7th grader this year at DCMS and Nolan
is a 5th grader at DCPV. My husband Dan and I have been married for 15
years. We met while living in Miami, Florida, but decided to move to
Oklahoma (where I was raised) in order to raise our family -- a very happy
decision for us. As a family, we enjoy attending the boys' sports and
scouting events, going to OSU ball games, traveling to see friends and
relatives, or simply gathering in the living room to watch a family movie.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Finance at Oklahoma State University
in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1986 (Go Pokes!). After spending some time in
the business world, I attained my Masters in Education at Florida
International University in Miami, Florida in 1995. From my graduation date
until my first year of teaching, I continued to stay involved in
education through substituting, tutoring, textbook writing, and Pre-School
teaching. I am certified in Elementary Education as well as Secondary
Mathematics.
I truely enjoy teaching math to kids. To see the look in their eyes that
tells me that they "get it" is just like the commercial says..."priceless".
I would love for all of my students to like math, even as much as I do, but
more importantly, I want my students to be comfortable and successful in
working with math.
Classroom Mission: To promote an atmosphere where all students feel secure
about their individuality. To encourage my students to treat one another
with respect and realize that we are more alike than we are different from
one another.
Mathematics Mission: To promote a positive attitude toward math within my
students in order that they can feel comfortable and successful when dealing
with mathematics. To assist my students in realizing that they CAN do math.
