Homework

Week of-Nov. 9-13

Composition

Your students will begin their essay or research paper this week. We will be
in the library to check out books on Monday. Students will enter information
they want in their paper and the source on note cards. They will go to the
library again on Tues.-Friday to get internet sources, and again information
will be written on note cards. The cards will be compiled and sequenced after
they make a writing web, and students will begin typing. All work should be
done at school. Students have 2 weeks to get the job finished, and the Monday
and Tuesday before Thanksgiving, they will be randomly called on to present.
Exactly what is required of them and the point breakdown will be given to them
on Monday.

There will be no more spelling tests until after Thanksgiving.

LITERATURE

We will complete the reading of our novel "Among the Imposters" on Monday.
The students will be writing an essay using at least 5 examples from their
novel to support their topics. Topics given were character development of
Luke from the beginning to the end of the novel; how is suspense and climax
created; and how did the choice of setting affect the plot. This is a rather
difficult assignment for students, but 7th and 8th graders need to thoroughly
digest how these literary elements play a role in their reading material.
They will work on this assignment all week and present their work the 2 days
before Thanksgiving. They will do all of this project at school They will
take an AR test over this book but will not have an exam over it.
