About The Teacher
2009-2010 will be quite an exciting year for students and faculty with so many new faces at Deer Creek Middle School!! I'm sure many positive changes are on the horizon! I have taught twenty years in the Deer Creek Public schools and have seen the growth in the school system and the community. My experience includes teaching at both the secondary and elementary level at Deer Creek, but I've also taught in other Kansas and Oklahoma schools. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Vocational Education, Elementary Education, and a Master's in Early Childhood Education. I have a minor in Sociology with endorsements in both Social Studies and Science. American History is my favorite of the subjects that I am qualified to teach!!! The 8th grade curriculum begins with PreColumbian America and takes us to 1877. However, we will study a few events up to the present time. I enjoy teaching and spending time with my family. My husband, Louis and I have three grown children and seven grandchildren all under the age of 10. So as you can imagine, our life is never dull!! I also enjoy leisure time activities! I especially like reading mysteries and historical fiction, gardening and travel. The Rocky Mountains are still my favorite spot in the world! We are planning a trip to Greece next summer! So, this year will a time of practicing the language and learning more about the culture. I know the upcoming year will be a good one. There are so many activities already on the school calendar for a great year!
