General Information

Welcome to Deer Creek Middle School Girls' Varsity Basketball

7th and 8th grade girls scrimmage is Nov.7th;

info available on the Downloads page.

Please refer to this page for any late breaking schedule changes including practices.

    1. We have a minimum of 4 teams one being the varsity, JV Advanced, JV Blue, and JV White. The goal of the varsity team is to continue to develop skills of the game, play competitively against opponents, and of course always display sportsmanship. We would love to be in contention for the conference championship. Teams are selected by the coaches. All girls will start over as far as team selections go! Always put forth your BEST EFFORT!!!
    2. The varsity and JV have separate schedules. Check the website for games.
      • You may be wondering why the varsity boys and girls are not always playing at the same locations. This is our second year to be included in the Suburban Conference. The format of games was established by the conference.
      • Lockers are provided.
      • All items must be stored in the locker with the lock on. Items left in the locker room will be placed in a lost and found. (This has been a huge problem in the past!) Please stress to your girls that they must keep their possessions in their locked lockers. In order for the locker room to be swept the girls must pick up their stuff.
    3. All girls going out for this sport must have a physical on file. Physicals must be dated after May 1st of 2008. The physical is available online. We also have to have an insurance waiver and an athletic contract that must be signed and on file.
    4. We provide a practice jersey for the girls to wear during practice. The practice jersey must be worn at each practice and scrimmage. The girls must return the provided apparel at the end of the season. If for some reason the loaned articles are lost or damaged the player will have to pay replacement costs.
    5. At the time teams are selected the players will be issued a game uniform consisting of tops and shorts. Be sure you take care of these uniforms. As with the practice gear, the uniforms must be replaced if they are ruined or lost.
    6. Shoes and kneepads are not provided by the school. We suggest that the shoes fully support the ankles. We do not specify a brand or a color of shoe. Kneepads help protect the knee from injury. Wear them!
    7. The DCMS coaches expect the girls to display good sportsmanship and respect at all times. This expectation includes behavior to the coaches, teammates, opponents, and referees. Please go over the Student Activity Code of Conduct with your athlete.
    8. Deer Creek Schools provides transportation to events by bus. All girls must ride to the games on the bus as a team. When going home be sure that the coach knows whether you are riding on the bus or going home with a parent. Your child will call you 30 minutes or so before our estimated time of arrival.
    9. We will have extra practices that will be either before or after our school hours. Please make arrangements to get to practice or picked up at the end of practice on time. A practice schedule will be posted on the web.
    10. Each varsity team will be in 2 tournaments. DCMS will host one of the tournaments.
    11. Parents will work concessions during regular games and the DCMS tournaments.
