All second graders will have the following things for homework each week:

1. Monday: Spelling Homework & Book Baggy Book (in reading folder)
2. Tuesday: Math Homework
3. Wednesday: Book Baggy Book (in reading folder)
4. Thursday: Math Homework & Study Spelling Words
5. Friday: No Homework

* In addition to studying spelling words, students will have a spelling activities list that
will come home each week. This list will remain the same for the 1st 9 weeks and will change in
October after Fall Break, when the 2nd 9 weeks begins. Students will need to plan out which
night they want to do their 2 spelling activities for the week. These 2 activities should be
done on paper and should be turned in on Friday morning for a spelling grade in the gradebook.
The spelling activities & word list can be found each week on the News This Week icon on the
website.
* Students will be expected to read for at least 20 minutes each day. Beginning in September, a
reading log will be put in your child's DEER Keeper. He or she will need to complete the entry
in the reading log each evening (number of minutes read, title of book, etc.). It might be a
good idea to keep this reading log in your child's reading folder in the DEER Keeper.
