Thank you for visiting during conferences, this certainly helps
clarify questions and papers you see coming home. It helps us continue to be
a team in supporting your child and ensuring every child's success. You may
email me this week if you need to make an appt.
Language: We will begin studying three point paragraphs this week. Look for
possible work which may be homework. The page number should be written in
your child's agenda or spiral if he or she does not have an agenda.
Spelling:
garnet,amethyst,aquamarine,diamond,emerald,pearl,ruby,peridot,sapphire,opal,
topaz, turquoise
Congratulations to our spelling bee winners: Ethan Renner, Kendall
Blackburn, Seth Brown, and Landon Seigler. Alternate is Devan Wiederstein.
The spelling bee will be conducted Jan. 12th, beginning at 10:15.
AR: To help encourage reading, the 4th grade has a group goal! After
passing the AR test, students write the name of their book on a strip of
colored paper and make a chain. If the paper reaches to the library and back
to our rooms by the end of the 9 wks., they earn a pizza party!
Social Studies: We conducted a mock criminal trial in our room on Friday.
Probable cause was found so a "search warrant" was issued to search
the "defendant's" school box for possible clues. This helped seal the case
as the defendant was found guilty of defacing property and sentenced to 6
months in jail then 6 months probation during which 100 hours of community
service would be rendered by the defendant.
