The award is designed to commemorate the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. and to honor Mrs. Coretta Scott King for her courage and
determination to continue the work for peace and world brotherhood.

Sequoyah Book Award-
Sponsored by the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA), the Sequoyah Book Award
is a students' choice award. The Sequoyah Book Award program is designed to
encourage young Oklahomans to read outstanding literature written for
children and young adults. The Sequoyah Children's Book Award has been
presented since April 1959.
