I am looking forward to starting another great year with my first graders!
I am an avid reader and I want my students to read and enjoy as many books
as they can this year.
I grew up in northwestern Oklahoma on the farm that my great-grandparents
homesteaded over a century ago and on which my father still lives and
raises wheat. I am a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University,
majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Music (piano). I gained my
Master's Degree at Southwestern as a Reading Specialist and I am also
certified in Learning Disabilities/Mental Retardation.
In 1999 I earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood and in
November 2009 renewed this certification for another ten years. To gain this
renewal I completed a portfolio documenting four comprehensive professional
growth experiences since receiving National Board Certification and also
describing and documenting the impact on student learning from these
professional growth experiences. I have enjoyed mentoring many Mustang
teachers and other Oklahoma educators as they have gained National Board
Certification.
Over the past several summers I have attended a national technology
conference and many technology seminars. I enjoy implementing new
utilizations of technologies into our classroom instruction that support
and enrich the learning of my students and teaching my students how to
utilize our school's technology resources.
I hope that you and your child will visit our classroom website often and
sign up to receive the updates of our Classroom Newsletter Page and our
Homework Page by adding your email adresses to both pages.
