Hi! My name is Mrs. Brandon and I am honored to be your child's first grade
teacher this year! This is my 11th year to teach, six of those have been at
Lakehoma. I taught Kindergarten for the first four and then looped up with a
class to first. This is my 3rd year in first grade. I have also been a
music teacher for PreK-8th grades, and I taught multiage Pre-K for two years
in Edmond. I have degrees in both elementary and early childhood ed. from
ECU, and a Master's degree from UCO in early childhood curriculum and
instruction. My husband and I have two children ages 12 and 7. We are both
from Shawnee, but have grown to love the Mustang area. We have 3
dogs...Tiger the Boxer, Peanut the Wienner Dog, and Gracie our beautiful but
crazy Weimaraner.
This will be an exciting year full of fun and lots of reading!!! I whole-
heartedly believe that parents are their child's first and most important
teachers, and I am proud to be your partner this year as we learn to read and
write. It will be a fast and furious year full of great accomplishments and
lots of learning. You will be amazed at how quickly these next few months
fly by and the amount of growth you will see in your child academically. It
will take hard work on the child's part, time and lots of patience on yours,
but the rewards are well worth the effort! I know it's going to be a GREAT
year!
My mission is for each student to leave my classroom with a great love for
learning and believing in these 3 things...
1. Never give up---always do your best.
2. You'll never know what you're capable of until you try. We don't say
the words "I can't."
3. It's okay to make mistakes...that's how we learn!
