B.   End of the Day Dismissal Procedures- The safety of our students is our number one concern, therefore the Limestone Staff meet this summer to discuss ways to address safety concerns which best protects all students.

1.    Walkers- The recent transportation changes will mean that the majority of our student population will be exiting the building as walkers. Therefore, walkers will be dismissed at 2:30 pm (with teacher supervision) and escorted to the front doors.

2.    Car Riders- Students will be released out of the front entrance as soon as walkers have cleared the area.

ü  WE WILL NOT RELEASE CAR RIDERS TO PARENTS THAT HAVE PARKED, LEFT THEIR CARS AND ARE WAITING FOR US TO CALL THEIR CHILD SO THEY CAN WALK BACK TO THEIR CAR, AVOIDING THE CAR LINE.

ü  Parents/Guardians are requested to display a sentence strip with your child’s name(s) on the dashboard for a smoother flow. Sentence strips will be passed out at Back to School Night.

ü  If you wish to pick up your child early it is imperative that you call to  inform the school before 2:00pm so that we can better serve you and keep the end of the day disruptions to a minimum.

3.   Bus Riders- Students will leave the classroom and go directly to the bus line (by Kdg. classes) The duty teacher will instruct the students to board the bus!

4.   Daycares- Students will report to the fifth grade hall and await drivers with supervision.

5.   A constant routine is imperative for a child(ren) to feel safe and secure. We do understand that circumstances happen, but ask that you do have a daily plan for your child(ren) that they undoubtedly understand. This will elevate students from stopping by the office daily to ask the staff members, “How am I getting home today?”

6.   All Students MUST be picked up by 2:45 pm.  Afterschool fees may apply for students that are habitually picked up late.

C.   Attendance and Tardies

1.   Attendance-

Simply put…We cannot teach your child if they are not at school. Once again, keeping a child on routine is very important and making up missed assignments due to absences or tardiness can be stressful to a child. More than likely, there are going to be times when your child needs to be absent. If this happens, we asked that you call the school at 246-1560 to leave a message or speak with Mrs. Donohew. This request is for record keeping, security issues and we genuinely care about your child(ren) and want to know everything is alright.

2.   Tardies-

Due to recent security issues within public schools, Limestone Technology Academy has changed our Tardy Policy for student protection.

Ø  Student MUST be accompanied by an adult before being admitted to school tardy.

What does this mean to you?

·         Parents must enter the building with their child(ren) for students to be admitted to class.

·         Students that live in the neighborhood cannot just walk-in, receive a tardy slip and go to class.

·         Excessive tardiness will be turned into the District Attorney’s office.

·         Parents will not be allowed to call from their cars or homes to report that their child(ren) are on their way to school or entering the building tardy. A parent MUST be present for admittance!

D.   Rise and Shine-

1.     Rise and Shine will be on Mondays and Fridays (7:40 – 7:50 pm). All parents are welcome!!

2.    Student of the Week- If your child is selected as Student of the Week you will be informed by your teacher so that you may attend the Friday festivities.

3.    Showcases- Classrooms often do short skits, poems, songs, etc… to display what they are learning. Agendas, websites, and possibly newsletters will share showcases dates. Showcases are usually short, but we would love to have you present. Please note that specific letters to address showcases will not be sent home.
