Welcome to the Winter Season These first few months of school has flown by quickly. I've enjoyed getting to know our new class of 2nd graders. We are working on our addition facts and subtraction to 18. We must get 80% of 50 correct in five minutes to be considered fluent. So it is so important that your child works on math facts everyday. If you need help or ideas please let me know. Also reading is a must. Please have your child read aloud for about five minutes to check their fluency and pace (not to fast not to slow) then have them read for a total of 15 minutes silently and tell you about what they read, who were the characters, what were the main facts (if non-fiction). If you need ideas let me know. Then they are to work for 10 minutes or so on spelling words a night. Chanting the words is good, using them in sentences, sorting them by endings, vowels or spellings are very good for remembering patterns. I usually don't send any other paperwork home because I feel we work hard in school and with the work I want them to do at home it is enough and they will do a great job if they can keep up with those assignments. Remember I am available by email or phone feel free to contact me if you need or want too.
Or, would you like to view and optionally restore one of these previous versions?
