To all of my new students in my classroom for the 2009-2010 school year, I am
so excited to meet each of you and your families. I am ready to begin the
new year with you.

***Our class is going to adopt a family for Christmas this year. We would
like to get donations for new toys that are appropriate for an 11 year
old girl and a thirteen year old girl. Please send all items to school
by Thursday, December 18th. Donations can also be made for the counselor
and teacher to pick up any gift items. A letter is going home this week
about the details for buying gift items. The family will really appreciate
your generosity.
***Our class will be donating a turkey dinner to a family in our community.
If you would like to donate items for their Christmas basket we could use
canned vegetables, stuffing, potatoes, cranberries or other non-perishable
items that would be enjoyed on Christmas Day. The food basket will be
presented to the counselors on Monday morning, December 21st at our
Wakin and Shakin morning assembly.
***Our class will have the winter party on Tuesday, December 22nd at
1:30 p.m. The students drew names to buy a $5.00 gift item. Homeroom
mothers will be contacting parents who signed up to help with the winter
parties. We will also participate in a "Get Wrapped Up in Reading" day
with our fourth graders. This will take place on Monday, December 21st.
Students are allowed to wear winter pajamas, bring their favorite books
or magazines, a warm blanket, and snack/drink items. Items need to fit in
backpacks to bring to school. We will be purchasing pizza for our main
snack during the party. Each child needs to bring $3.00 by Friday,
December 18th. The money will be given to the homeroom moms to order the
pizza for the party.
