You are currently using the Homework With Text Formatting page type. This is an old page type with limited formatting options. We would recommend switching to the Enhanced Text page, a more advanced page type with many more options. Click here for more information on the different page types. Please note: You may continue to use this page type if you desire.
ANY PAPER THAT THE CHILD IS DISPLEASED WITH MAY BE CORRECTED, SUBMITTED, AND AVERAGED FOR A BETTER GRADE THE FOLLOWING DAY.
Please do not wait if you feel a conference is needed. Call me at home or write an e-mail, and I will return the call as soon as possible. This can be incorporated with the PARENT PORTAL. If you have not done so, please stop by the office for signing information.
All assignments are given ORALLY after instruction and WRITTEN on the whiteboard daily. It is the child's responsibility to write each assignment in the AGENDA regularly.
Do not forget to go to STUDY ISLAND as it will be open. It is AWESOME.
We will also be doing THE MIDNIGHT RIDE OF PAUL REVERE, the classic poem.
REMEMBER: FIVE (5) BOOKS ARE TO BE READ AND TESTS TAKEN PER NINE WEEKS.
One of those will be a BIOGRAPHY with a project to follow.
English: We will be working on a written autobiography leading to a biography book report
Spelling Unit 13. Begin with the first page by writing the list of all 30 words. Alphabetize the list, also. Create 10-15 sentences using the spelling words correctly. Please, no more that 2 spelling list words per sentence.
Science: . We are continuing the animal environment unit. Workbook and/or worksheets will compliment this unit. New VOCABULARY words should be written w/ definitions and placed in the child's folder.
Math: DIVISION is following multiplication. Daily work is assigned either through the text or with extra practice being done on worksheets.
Take a few minutes DAILY to do quick reviews of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This brief review will pay great dividends in the long run. SPEAK with your child when traveling, eating, watching comercials, and just one-to-one time to see what is on tap this week. Please challenge your child to mini moments of practice while in a car, at the table, during commercials, etc. Look at car tags, multiply first and third numerals, add or subtract the numerals and create interesting problems.
Use of PLAYING CARDS will be helpful/FUN activities with Ace as 1 through 9... two players laying 3 to 5 cards down...add, subtract, multiply, expand, use exponents, and other fun activities will be used. (Eventually, we will use cards to increase our fraction skills.) Create largest or smallest possible numeral with the numerical cards, or use as decimal places through the thousandths' place to locate the least possible numeral.
Also, playing dice can be used in a similar manner. Simply create rules for your family. Use one to five dice and roll for first player. Select two or three numerals and multiply or divide by one, two, or three digits.
METRIC is a real word. Ask your child about "King Henry Died by Drinking Chocolate Milk."
