HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK OF 11-16 Monday Practice next 25 sight words; read “Who Works Here?” Study spelling; Family Times Day 1 Name the days of the week; “How many?”; “If today is ___, then what was yesterday/is tomorrow?” Tuesday Practice next 25 sight words; read Baggie Books Study spelling; Family Times Day 2 Name the months of the year; “How many?”; “If it is ____, what was last month/is next month?” Wednesday Practice next 25 sight words; read “Who Works Here?” Study spelling; Family Times Day 3 Talk about digital and analog clocks. Draw a clock and number 1-12. Use toothpicks to tell time to the hour. Thursday Practice next 25 sight words; read Baggie Books Study spelling; Family Times Day 4 Talk about digital and analog clocks. Draw a clock and number 1-12. Use toothpicks to tell time to the hour. Friday Practice next 25 sight words; read library books Family Times Day 5 Talk about digital and analog clocks. Draw a clock and number 1-12. Use toothpicks to tell time to the hour. READING HOMEWORK - "Family Times" booklets will go home each week spotlighting the skills/words that we are learning. There are 5 activities. This is a fun way to reinforce what we are learning at school. Repetition is so important. Thank you. Read for 15 minutes every night! You can take turns with your child reading out loud. First graders love for you to read to them, and they love to look for words they know in the books. Those first graders who are reading need to be reading for 15 minutes as well. SPELLING HOMEWORK - A spelling list will go home at the beginning of each week. Make sure your child can spell and write each one. Also, if you are doing the activities in the "Family Times" booklet, then you are also practicing spelling skills. Our test will be on Friday. MATH - Encourage your child by talking about math concepts through every day activities such as cooking, counting, adding, subtracting. For example: The recipe says to add 3 eggs. I put two eggs in. How many do I still need? I have 5 nickels in my pocket. If I give you 3, how many are left? There are 3 cars in front of us. Which car are we in the line? Fourth
