Reeves Class Procedures

DAILY WORK- All work will be due on the next school day, unless otherwise
noted. Each student will be responsible for keeping their own papers filed
away in a folder for each subject. These papers should be kept in their
folders until I or the other teachers request they be turned in. As we
prepare to hand in papers, in Math, each student may be asked to review their
work on about 1/2 of each paper aloud. I will then take up the papers and
assess the remainder for a grade. If your child happens to make a grade that
is less than passing, I will place a parent signature stamp on the paper,
hand the paper back to them, allow them to make corrections, get your
signature on the corrected work and hand it in to me on the next school day.
The best grade they can make on these papers will be a 60%. If your child
does not have their paper ready to be handed in during the appropriate class
time they will receive a grade of a zero. When the paper is turned in, after
the appropriate time, the grade will become a 50%. Our hope in doing this is
to encourage our students in responsible academic ways. Of course there are
always situations beyond anyone's control that could dictate papers being
turned in at later dates. Obviously we will evaluate those situations and
judge them accordingly.

I will then make corrections in my grade book and thereby
help their grade.

Test grades will never be corrected.

For more details please consult our 5th grade handbook which was sent home in
the black and red Mustang Bronco folder the 1st full week of school.
*****************************************************************************

Starting around the 2nd week of school- your child will have one school day
to make corrections on low grade papers. This will help reinforce in them
the concepts missed. I will not accept them any later than that.

*****************************************************************************

SPELLING- We will take a pretest on the beginning day of most weeks. The
post test will be Thursday. The test will be given over 15 words from each
unit's list. (There will be one unit which has 20 words). I do not
publish a list of these words; they will be taken from the list in the book
for the unit that has been assigned. I will publish a list of words on this
website on Tuesdays, in the Word Search/Number Puzzles section after the
pretest has been given. Students do not miss any words on the pre test will
be given a score of 110 points. At this point they are finished with
Spelling for the week. They have now earned free time during the post test.
They may do anything they choose except disturb the class during this free
time. They will be eligible to earn bonus points that are given with the
post test. They will also automatically receive 110 points for the post
test. Those students not making a 100 will be instructed to write all words
missed 15 times each. They will receive a grade of 100 if they correctly
spell each word missed 15 times each. This grade will be a prorated grade.
By that I mean they will receive a 100 for work turned in on Tuesday, a 70 by
Wednesday and 60 Thursday and so on.
