How can I help my child become a better reader?

You can help your child best by reading to your child daily and listening to
your child read to you daily. Consistent daily practice is the best way to
improve reading.

How can I help my child become a more fluent reader?

Children benefit from practicing reading the same passage several times. This
helps improve their fluency (the rate at which they read). The goal is to
read at the same rate at which we speak and with the same voice inflections.

How can I help my child memorize math facts?

Children will benefit from repetition when it comes to math facts:
flashcards, writing the facts over and over, and playing math fact games are
helpful. Students can practice doing "timed" tests for math facts to help
improve their speed and recall.

How can I help my child with their math skills?

Math can be lots of fun. Include your child in daily activities that involve
math like telling time, counting money, making recipes, measuring objects.
Also, it is important to ask child questions like: How much time has passed
from 3:00 to 5:30 (elapsed time questions) and How much change should you get
when buying things at the store. Include your child in as much of your daily
routine as possible, ask them challenging questions and don't always give them
the answers.
