Note from Mrs. Sooter:

Hello Parents and Students!

I am looking forward to an enjoyable trimester. Since we are going to be
working together for this trimester, let me tell you a little about myself.
My name is Kathy Sooter. I have lived in Vinita my entire life. I grew up in
Vinita Public Schools and graduated from Vinita High School. I met my
husband, Eric Sooter, while attending high school. I am very excited to be
working in this school. Eric and I have four sons; Ben, Elijah, Gabe and
Noah, who all are attending or have attended Vinita schools.

I have always enjoyed the subject of mathematics and am hoping that some of
that enjoyment rubs off on to my students. I believe that all students can
learn mathematics. However, I also know that we all learn in different ways.
Because of this, I strive to provide a variety of representations and
activities to allow all of the students ample opportunities to succeed.

I believe that education is a joint venture between me, my students and their
parents. I promise to provide the very best instruction I can as well provide
a classroom environment conducive to learning. However, I can only do so
much. To ensure learning takes place, students must also make a commitment.
I expect my students to come to class with open and willing minds. Students
must be willing to be active participants in the learning process. If we work
together, we will have a great trimester and, when it is over, you will be
amazed at what you have learned.

As part of this venture, I encourage parents to be active participants in
their student’s education. I welcome you to call me, e-mail me, or schedule
an appointment to see me at any time during this trimester. To e-mail me,
just click on the mailbox in the top right corner of the news page.

As a parent, I know that children are the most valuable gift we can ever
receive. In light of that, I feel honored to have the opportunity to teach
your child. I look forward to hearing from you this trimester.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sooter
