I received my bachelor's degree from Southern Nazarene University where I
ran cross country and track, was the editor of the campus literary magazine,
worked in the English Department, and was a TA. My husband is a youth
pastor and also works as a "land man" (he takes photographs of 100-year-old,
50-pound books at courthouses all over the state). I ADORE literature, art,
music, and any activity that encourages creativity. I also enjoy running,
biking, basketball, soccer, swimming, hiking, and camping.
I want to ensure that each day we discover a new perspective of what it
means to truly live. We encourage one another to make this world a better
place, one small thing done with great love at a time. I appreciate the
miracle of each day, and our class is best spent exploring what it holds for
us. Though my goals include aiding students in their comprehension and
acquisition of American literature, English grammar, and research and
writing skills, I endeavor that each of us becomes a better human being each
moment that we share with one another. I aim all of my activities and
course work at helping students to not only discuss and interpret the ideas
of others, but also to intelligently construct many of their own. I intend
to prepare students to succeed in life, both now and after high school. I
am committed to seeing better, more astute, thoughtful, & creative students
leave my classroom, and I am committed to allowing them to make me so. If I
can help it, we will not, when we die, find that we did not truly live.
(Henry David Thoreau)
