JOB SHADOW ASSIGNMENT:
Each student in each class is required to job shadow at a business of his
or her choice. The purpose of job shadowing is to not only assist students
in making a knowlegeable career choice for the future, but to learn
firsthand how to prepare for a job or career. Job shadowing for the
fall, 2010 semester is to be completed during the month of October, with all
paperwork due no later than Friday, October 29. Paperwork will be
considered late after that date, and points will be deducted.
This is a required assigment (NOT bonus points), worth 500 points on a
project grade, and should be taken very seriously. The alternative
assignment is to research five careers of choice IN ADDITION to
the five which were assigned at the beginning of the semester. The
alternative assignment is also due no later than Friday, October 29.
GUEST SPEAKERS:
Each student enrolled in Parenting and Child Development, Marriage and
Family, Adult and Family Living, and Family and Consumer Sciences I is
required to make arrangements for a guest speaker, an adult who can come to
class and share information related to the class subject matter. For
example, someone who owns (or works at) a day care could come talk to the
parenting and child development class about the day care business. Guest
speakers must have presented their information on or before Friday,
December 10, 2010. This is a required assignment (NOT bonus points), worth
500 points. Throughout the semester, alternate assignments will be offered.
FREE A'S:
Each student will be given paperwork at the beginning of the semester, to be
signed by both the student and his or her parent(s)/guardian(s). Many of
the papers are worth 100 points, if brought back to class the next day (free
A's!!) and count as a test grade (10%). The grade on each paper drops 10
points per day for each day not turned in. THESE ARE NOT BONUS
POINTS...THEY ARE REQUIRED ASSIGNMENTS!!!!
Each student will be required to fill out a "CESI" form (Computerized
Enrollment System for Instructors), for state reporting purposes. The
Family and Consumer Sciences courses are governed by the Oklahoma Department
of Career Technology. As a result, certain information is to be submitted
regarding the population of the "FACS" classes. The information gathered is
used by Career Tech for funding purposes.
JOURNAL ENTRIES:
Bell work for the students is to copy the "Journal Entry" each and every
day. Journal Entries will be posted on the Smartboard at the front of
class, and will be printed and placed in a binder daily so students may copy
them if they are absent. Students may also locate the journal entries on
this website daily by clicking on the "Journal Entries" tab.
Journal Entries are graded weekly, and are worth 100 points per week. Not
copying the Journal Entries can lower a student's grade by two (2) letter
grades.
