Can I turn in late work?
Students in Pre-AP Biology may NOT turn in any work late and
still receive credit.
Students are encouraged to turn in all work, even if no credit
will be received. Student actions are taken in to account when a
final average needs a boost to the next letter grade.
This applies to regular assignments only. Special projects and
long-term assignmnents will be taken at reduced credit. (see
course information)
When can I make up work from an absence?
I am available to makeup labs, tests and quizzes before school at
scheduled times and occasionally on some other days after school.
Do not just show up, let me know you are coming at least one day
in advance.
How long do I have to make up work?
The district policy states that a student has one day for every
day absent to make up work from absences. I generally allow one-
week for labs and tests to be made up, regular assignments are
due within the allowed time frame set forth by the district
policies. Students who have special circumstances should talk to
me immediately.
If I am on an IEP how much extra time do I have to submit work?
If your IEP states that you may have extra time to complete
assignments I will allow you one week past the original due date.
If your IEP does not state that you may have extra time you will
need to speak to me at the beginning of the year about turning in
assignments late.
If I am going to be absent, should I get my work before I go?
Absolutely! If you know that you are going to be absent,
especially for a school related activity, you should get your
work before you go. I usually have assignments ready by Wednesday
of the preceeding week. Some labs and tests may be done early but
most will need to be made up when you return.
Why do I have to do a Pre-lab activity before the lab?
Pre-Lab Activities are designed to prepare the student for doing
the lab. Some labs require additional information or explanation
and many take longer than one class period to complete. We do Pre-
Lab Activities to save on time and to prepare for the lab so that
it can be completed in the amount of time we have in class.
If I am absent for the Pre-Lab Activity can I still do the lab?
Completion of all labs is required in my class. If you are absent
for the pre-lab, you must do it before the lab and make up the
lab on your oun time. If you know you are going to be absent, and
the Pre-Lab can be done outside of class, you can do it before
the day of the lab so that you will not be behind.
What do I do if I am absent for a lab?
Once you have completed the Pre-Lab Activity, you will need to
sign up for the lab itself. You will generally have one week to
complete the lab, do not wait until the last minute. Days
available for completing the lab will be posted.
