Should safety be a concern for me?
Whether it is a question of safety about repairs done to your vehicle or to personal student safety, it is always a major concern for parents and teachers. The student taking this course is drilled in all the safe working habits in the shop and working around vehicles. Although minor accidents and abrasions do occur, feel comfortable in knowing that the students safety is utmost in our shop practices and training. Vehicle repairs are inspected during and after completion by the qualified teacher and, if needed, mistakes are corrected before they are of a concern to the owner of the vehicle or the public at large.Back to Top
How are daily practical marks assessed?
Class participation is key to the daily participation mark. The student who just shows up to class is participating, but not to their fullest extent and therefore will receive a lower mark. The student who comes to class and works on a regular basis, no matter what the task they are assigned, receives a much better mark out of a possible 10.Back to Top
Can I get my car repaired by the students? Will it be done correctly?
The school repair shop is open to the community for a variety of repairs to be done. Just keep in mind, that certain repairs are beyond the scope of our curriculum and that repairs are not always completed as quickly as one might want or expect. After all, don't forget, the students are in the process of learning a complicated, although, satisfying trade. The repairs done are supervised by the teacher, who is a qualified class "A" mechanic with "Inter- Provincial" qualifications. All repairs and vehicles are cleared by the teacher before they leave the shop, just as if these students were apprentices in a regular automotive repair shop.Back to Top
