GRADE 11 - TERM PROJECT

PURCHASING A GOOD USED VEHICLE

Criteria:

-   this project must be produced using a word processing program and be
    in a proper format.
-   research purchasing a used vehicle, using " Davis bucks " ONLY .
-   spend no more than $3,500.00 to purchase a "certified" used vehicle.
-   research vehicle costs for first day expenses at the licensing bureau
-   show 1 year amortized financing of  $2,000.00 of the Davis buck's
    required for purchase.
-   research the cost of insurance for the vehicle, in the students own
    name (not under parents policy).
-   establish a responsible expense projection for the periods of	
              - one month
              - one year
-   determine a good visual and driving inspection that one may take to
    establish vehicle quality.
-   create a short questionnaire for the purchaser to ask, with
    explanations and reasonable answers.

Project Headings

(Resubmit project with required changes made to obtain 50% of lost marks)

-   Description of vehicle    (include picture and full explanation of
                               terms used in advert)

-   Descriptions of Terms     (a list and explanation of 25 abbreviations
                               used in the advertising of vehicles)

-   First Day Expenses        (M.T.O. costs, taxes, insurance, fuel,  
                               vehicle cost, etc.)

-   Monthly Expenses          (insurance, fuel, maintenance (listed),
                               repairs (listed), loan, etc.)

-   Yearly Expenses           (insurance, fuel, maintenance (listed),
                               repairs (listed), loan, sticker,   etc.)


(Second half of project - due at end of term)

-   Visual Inspection         (what to look for and why)
-   Driving Inspection        (where to drive, who drives when with 
                               explanations)
-   Buyers Questionnaire      (at least ten questions that a buyer should
                               ask, with answers and reasons, when to ask
                               the questions)
-   Things to Avoid           (a list of ways in which people get taken in
                               vehicle transactions and how to avoid the
                               pitfalls)
