The home stretch...

On Monday, May 28th the grade 8s will be picking their valedictorian. Any student may write a speech 
and present. Students who are interested in speaking at the graduation ceremony are to write a 1 - 2 
minute valedictorian speech and they will present it to the grade 8 classes on Monday.  Students will 
vote for their valedictorian.

Instrumental music will be wrapping up this week.  Grade 8 students who are renting their instruments 
and do not plan to rent into high school need to have their instruments in the dance studio with their 
names clearly labelled by the second week of June for pick up.  If students do not have their instrument 
in the dance studio at the time of pick up it will be the responsibility of the parent(s) to return their 
child's instrument to Cosmo music/Long & Mc Quade. Grade 7 students who are returning to LEAP for 
grade 8 need to renew their contract and take their instruments home for the summer.  Just a reminder 
that students stay on the same instrument for both years. Grade 7 students MUST have their instrument 
out of the dance studio by June 4th, otherwise it will be picked up and parents must go through the 
rental process again. Concert band rentals go directly through Andy Coffin at Cosmo Music, please do 
not bring renewal contracts to Mrs. Diamond.

Grade 8s are working on their year-end plays.  They will be performed the week of June 18th. These 30-
40 minute plays are completely student directed and an opportunity to demonstrate all their learnings 
for the past two years.  Parents are welcome to attend their child's play, we just ask that parents sign in 
at the office.  Morning performance are at 10:20, afternoon performances are at 12:50.

Student Clothing

We ask that parents PLEASE check their daughter's clothing before she heads out the door.  The board 
policy for appropriate clothing is that shorts/skirts must be come to the fingertips when arms are down, 
tops cannot be see-through, bras cannot be showing, shoulder straps must be a least 2 fingers wide 
and tops cannot be low-cut.  We are having issues on a daily basis with clothing.
