Update December 9th
Hola companeros de viaje!
A special "gracias" to all those who stayed late last night to brainstorm about fundraising.
For those of you who couldn't attend, we covered a lot of topics at Monday's meeting. Here are
the highlights:
NEW DATES:
Wednesday, March 11th to Monday, March 23rd
Sorry, our dates have changed again - for the last time! Our tickets are being booked so these
are our final dates. Sorry to all those who now will miss Cawthra Live. I am sure that Ecuador
Live will more than make up for it!
Because we now have one more day in Ecuador and miss one more day of school (a hardship, I know)
we also have additional costs. We have been able to bring that cost down significantly but we
will have to add $50.00 to your final cost. The alternative is to raise money to cover it.
(Sorry!) We will work together to raise money to cover the cost of the additional supply
teachers that are need to cover that extra day.
FINAL PAYMENT DUE:
Friday, December 19th.
We need you to bring in your final payment before the holidays. This payment of $3050.00 is due
the first week of January (Cheque made payable to Pacesetter Travel). If it is difficult for
you to get it in by the 19th, you will have to deliver it to Pacesetter Travel yourself by
January 2nd. If you want to pay by credit card, you will have to contact Pacesetter Travel
personally by phone or visit in person.

CULTURE:
Wes, Nabilah and Jay gave us a very informative presentation on culture and etiquette in
Ecuador. We learned a lot of useful practices that we will take with us. If you missed the
presentation, you may want to ask one of them if you can look at their PowerPoint. It may help
you avoid awkward moments in Ecuador!
FUNDRAISING:
We have money to raise!
Ideas that we thrown around:
1. 'Me to We' tshirts - design one for our team, make extras to bring as gifts for our hosts,
sell them to raise money. Paige has the contact information. Let's talk more about that.
2. Silent auction - we need an event where we can hold this fundraiser. We talked about
upcoming evening events at Cawthra that would allow us to 'piggy-back' and have a table in the
foyer (or somewhere like that). we also discused having our own bigger event but nothing
concrete was decided. We would need a few parents to help out on something of that size. we
would donations for the auction.
3. Selling food during exams - The Caf is closed during exams. Wes put together a letter and
is taking to the VPs to get permission to sell pizza at lunch during exams and to sell treats
(and possibly coffee) during the RAP auditions which follow exams. We would need all of you to
volunteer your time to sell.
Laura M works at Tim Horton's and is looking into baked goods to sell. A couple of people said
they could find out about pizza places who would give us a discount. Scott had a free trade
coffee contact that he is investigating. If anyone else has contacts that might donate items to
sell, please let us know.
4. Other ideas? We need your help! We will have a brief fundraising meeting the first week
back to school to get ourselves organized. We need a date! Please email me and let me know
what days that week (except Monday) would work for you.
Our next official meeting will be January 12th. Stay posted as will probably have a fundraising
meeting the first week back to school.
Hasta la proxima!
