TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY

The Core - Science Fiction and Science Fact

• We will be watching the film, The Core, in class with a critical scientific eye. Your task will be to analyze the science (the fiction and the fact) and put your ideas together into a group presentation and report. If you miss the viewing of the film, it is your responsibility to watch it outsideof class (it is available at Blockbuster)..
• If you missed class, the assignment can be downloaded off this site.

THURSDAY

Group discussion of the film (the Core) and preparation for presentations (next week).

For homework:

1. Be sure to go through the topic questions and pick out yuor top 3 choices. We will organize the groups tomorrow.
2. Read over the material on Warsaw Caves (even if you arenot going).

FRIDAY

• Oveview and preparation for filed trip to Warsaw Caves
• Complete reading for homework (in permission form package). Everyone must complete these readings, even if you are not going. Those who are not going will have an alternate assignment today.
• HOMEWORK: Prepare for Monday's seminar (even #s)

Shoreline Cleanup - Today we are all participating with our assigned grade 9 classes. Be sure to check in for attendance, especially if you are not going on the cleanup until tomorrow. There will beno class as you are all participating during your spare or lunch in lieu of period B class.

Today we had the first seminar (by Ms Fitz) on the article, "Journey to the Centre of the Earth". If yuo have not yet read the article, please be sure to do so. It can be found on the link "SES 4U0 Seminar Articles").

TUESDAY

Zones of the Earth - be sure to refer to the reading on the Downloads link "Inner Earth Structure" to complete the chart provided in class (also available on the downloads link).

WEDNESDAY

Evidence of the composition of Earth's interior - Seismic Wave Studies.

The questions for today's class can be found on the downlaods page. Use the readings (dated 9/16) on the Unit One Readins link to complete the exercises.

THURSDAY

In the Library - Seminar preparations. Choosing your article and picking a date.

We will have a quiz tomorrow on the composition of the the Earth's interior and the seismic evidence to back it. (that is, the work we have done this week).

FRIDAY
