Where can I find you?

Usually in Room 207. If not, then try the Social Science office
or the staff room. I'm almost always on the second floor.

Absolutely! Just come and see me and we'll set up a time.

I'm going to be away for a few days--can I get the work I'll miss?

Yes--have your parents write me a note with the details, and I'll
put some things together for you. Give me as much notice as you
can.

Can I e-mail you to find out about class work when I'm away?

No--sadly, e-mail is the LEAST reliable way to reach me. I'm in
my classroom most of the day (I do a lot of my marking and lesson
preparation in there, too) and so I don't check my e-mail as often
as I should. If you need to get a hold of me quickly, see me in
person, or call my voice mail and leave a message.

Why do people call you Tosh? Isn't it a little too casual?

Well, not for me it isn't. My nickname was given to me by a very
special group of students up in Brampton (where I began my
teaching career) who decided that my name was too long, too
complicated and too hyphenated to say quickly during our Student
Council meetings. They brainstormed for all of about three
minutes and came up with "Tosh." And it stuck. I have no problem
with students addressing me formally, as Ms. Kirby-McIntosh or as
simply Miss. But mostly, students and staff at Cawthra know me
simply as Tosh.
