TEDTalks, "ideas worth spreading," are online talks by some of the world's
most inspiring voices. Talks are by people from every discipline and culture
who have just two things in common: they seek a deeper understanding of the
world, and they hope to turn that understanding into a better future for us
all.

Powers of Ten

View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth.
Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude
until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National
High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to
move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals
leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the
subatomic universe of electrons and protons.

Lines of Latitude and Longitude

The goal of the project is to visit each of
the places where lines of latitude and longitude intersect in the world, and
to take pictures at each location. The pictures and stories are then posted
on this website.

Climateprediction.net

The largest experiment to try and produce a forecast of the climate in the
21st century. To do this, we need people around the world to give us time on
their computers (when they have their computers switched on, but are not
using them to their full capacity).

There is a broad scientific consensus that the Earth will probably warm over
the coming century; climateprediction.net should, for the first time, tell us
what is most likely to happen.
