This is my sixth year of teaching at Cawthra. I taught previously at
Glenforest Secondary School. Before that, I spent a year in England where I
completed my training as a teacher at the University of Exeter. My
undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the
University of Guelph.
When I'm not at school I like: playing recreational soccer, painting,
travelling, watching movies, visiting with friends and family, reading and
camping.
I hope that all of my students will improve their interpersonal,
communication, critical thinking, scientific, organizational and literacy
skills through class and home work.
Secondary school is a transition from a time when adults make your
important decisions for you to a time when you will be making them for
yourself. I hope that you gain a sense of ownership of the work and the
learning that you complete this semester - you should feel proud of your
efforts.
You will need to take initiative to ensure that you catch up when you miss
work and get extra help with topics that you find difficult. Having the
confidence to ask for help when you need it is an important skill in
secondary school and beyond!
Lastly, I hope that you enjoy your time in lessons and find some of the
topics we discuss inspiring and exciting. Feel free to let me know if there
is anything about science that you would like to discuss as a class and we
will fit it in.
See you soon.
