"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something
else is the greatest accomplishment."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
"There is no use trying, said Alice; one can't believe impossible things. I
dare say you haven't had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age,
I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many
as six impossible things before breakfast."
--Lewis Carroll

For me, English class was always a special place. Books opened up other
worlds and gave me a chance to explore the kind of person I wanted to be.
Now that I'm an English teacher, I try to offer the same opportunity to
my students. In my class, reading, writing and discussion are all gateways to
asking big questions about life and our place in this world.
My goal is to challenge each one of you to think more deeply about who you
want to be and express more clearly your ideas about life's important issues.
Welcome to English -- prepare to believe the impossible.
