Final Summative Evaluation
January 2009

All work is to be done in class time at school,
unless you are composing an entry for the animation festival.
Part 1 - Flash Presentation.
The theme is "Going to School - at Cawthra and around the World."
Research conditions that students in Third World, war torn countries or
First Nations reservations in Canada face, in just trying to attend school.
Once at school, what are the conditions?
Suggested research: photojournalists such as Lana Slezic, Larry Towell,
Finbarr O'Reilly, and Rita Leistner.
Submit a Flash animation, contain the following
- Opening intro, with your name and project title.
- between 150 - 500 frames
- at least6 layers,
- 6 - 10 digital photos, half must be original
- some use of photoshop, on at least one image
- an element that fades or changes hue,
- a shape tween
- two motion tweens
- music
This is the minimum requirement, more is encouraged! Try to add original
drawings and designs, in addition to the digital images.
- Finally, complete your animation with a frame that says:
"Cawthra Park, Media Arts, January 2009."
- Save it as an .fla file.
- Export the animation as a Quick Time Video also.
Part 2 - Word Document
A paragraph containing the following information about a photojournalist who
inspired you. Include:
a.) general background, such as a age, nationality, work experience
b.) description of work, such as type of locations, and lifestyle.
c.) A sample photograph, labelled and inserted with your analysis and personal response
d.) An explanation of how you were inspired by this photographer in your
project.
e.) Submit as a Word document file, about 3/4's of a page long, named with your last name.
Save all files in a folder called "yourlastname_final."
Checklist:
o Your animation, saved as a .fla and quick time file.
o Your written statement is to be included as a Word doc.
o Do not include any unnecessary images or files.
o Submit to Ms. Wilde's drop box, by the end of class Friday, Jan. 16th
2009. Instructions are on my Teacher Web, called "sending files in 105A."
Materials available:
Digital cameras, scanner, paper, tape, scissors, pastels, coloured pencils,
markers, magazines, newspaper, wire, drawings, found objects.
Presentations:
Each student will present his or her work to the class on
Monday Jan. 19th and Tuesday Jan. 20th, 2009.
As we view your presentation on the screen, you will give us a verbal
Artist's Statement, of approximately 2 - 3 minutes, explaining your choice
of images and elements.
Marks will be deducted for non-attendance and/or non-attention during the
presentations.
