Intramural Soccer

IMs will begin in April 2010.

                                   RULES

of the field
•Substitutions can be made on the fly.
•Players should call their own infractions. Players involved in the incident
can also make the call.
•All free kicks are indirect. To score off an indirect kick, the ball must
first be touched by another player (but not the goalie).
•If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the sidelines, a kick-in is awarded
to the opposite team.
•If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the defence, a
corner kick is awarded to the attacking team. Corner kicks are considered a
restart of play and are therefore indirect.
•A handball occurs when the ball hits any part of a player's arm from the
shoulder down (girls may protect their chest area, and boys may protect their
groin area). A hand ball is indirect.
•Slide tackling is not allowed
•To score a goal, the ball must travel through the corner flag nets and under
the height of the corner flag nets.
•There are no off-sides, however players should not cherry pick.
•Goalies can use their hands only within 10 feet of the net (there are no
marks on the field there use your best judgment.
•Any rough play will result in immediate expulsion from further league play
•During the regular season, the game can end in a tie.
•During playoffs, if the game is tied after the regulation time, a five-
minute sudden death overtime period is played. If the game is still tied,
the players on the field will each take a penalty shot (5/team). If the game
is still tied, each team will alternate sudden-death penalty shots (all
players must take a shot before anyone goes twice).
