Tuesday, Oct. 20 - First day with visiting artist Susan Stopps. She introduced us to the project, showed examples of student work and demonstrated how to use the jeweller's saw to cut metal. We practised cutting straight lines, curves, and zigzags on brass sheets. Homework is to draw 5 potential ring designs to scale while thinking about use of positive and negative space. Measure the circumference of your ring finger and add 2mm to determine the length of silver you will need. The width of the silver sheet will be 15mm.
