Mr. Venema (B.F.A., B. Ed.) has resided in Michigan, California and
Ontario. He has visited 44 of the 50 United States, seven Canadian
Provinces and one Territory, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa
Rica, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Great Britain, France, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Spain,
Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, West Germany, Denmark, Sweden,
Norway, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Isreal, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco.
He has worked as a VTR Operator, Editorial Assistant and Tape Transfer
Technician for a variety of Toronto-based TV/commercial production houses.
He has been behind the scenes on shows such as "Monk", "Queer As
Folk", "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" and "The Kids In the Hall", as well
as an endless number of music videos. His favourite films are "Apocalypse
Now" (the original version), "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Brazil" and "Citizen
Kane".
He has dived with barracudas and moray eels on the Palancar Reef off
Cozumel, and been 105 feet down on the wreck of a lake freighter in the St.
Lawrence River. He has been on the cover of the Costa Rican newspaper "La
Nacion", and published a short story entitled "The Art of Tragedy In
Relation To Human Morphology" in the Speculative Literature edition of the
Canadian literary magazine "Descant". He has worked with Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal's
dad. He is not to be underestimated.
