I am so pleased to be back at Durham Christian Academy for my fourth year! This will be my first time teaching grade three and four, and I have spent much time this summer familiarizing myself with the curriculum and planning the best way for me to teach it in an engaging and hands-on way.
Teaching 3/4 is not the only new thing I will be doing this year. For six periods a week I will be the school’s resource teacher. I embrace both these new positions of responsibility.
Additionally, I will be continuing my position as computer curriculum planner and technology teacher.
Over the past year or so, God has placed Philippians 4:8 on my heart. In this letter, Paul gives practical advice to a church that is already doing well. The last piece of advice he gives them is this, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things” (NIV). This is the verse I have chosen for the class this year. A verse whose concept I hope to instill in each of my students. God affirmed my choice of scripture verse when I saw the cover of the grade 3 and 4 agendas. The verse is plastered all over the cover. Now we can carry it in our hearts, and our backpacks. This is going to be a blessed year!
