Track and Field Parents/Guardians

Dear Sir / Madame:

Your son or daughter has decided to compete with the ELSS Track and

Field team this spring.

There will be three meets in the next 5 weeks leading up to the Northern

Ontario (NOSSA) Championships. Practices have been held three times each

week for the past 8 weeks. The team selection is based upon attendance

at a minimum of 10 practices. Further selection will take place based

upon results as ELSS can only send two representatives in each event to

the North Shore Championships ( NSSSA )

All athletes at ELSS must fill out a Medical Information form. Please

fill out this form which your son or daughter will bring home and return

it as soon as possible. Remember, we will have the athletes doing

vigorous workouts, so please note any allergies or conditions, even

though they may not normally cause problems.

Due to the ongoing funding crunch occurring in education, we have been

forced to institute a user fee for all athletes on ELSS teams. Please

fill out the form your son or daughter will bring home and return it

with a cheque made out to ELSS. This form and money must be returned by

Friday May 3, since the first meet is Saturday May 10.

As well, each member of a school team must participate in a fundraising campaign by selling five packages of coffee at ten dollars each. Finally, to help with costs, each team member must have participated in the city wide garbage clean-up.

This year’s race schedule is listed below:

Saturday May 10 - Nipissing Invitational - North Bay (leaving Friday after school) (this meet serves as the selection meet for NOSSA in the steeplechase event)

Wednesday May 14 - Pre NSSSA - CASS : team selection meet

Wednesday May 21 - NSSSA Championships - CASS

Thursday, Friday May 29,30 - NOSSA Championships – Sault Ste Marie
