Trudeau, bilingualism, rise of Bloc, Parti Quebecois. Homework: FLQ,
October Crisis, War Measures Act, Pierre Laporte, James Cross.
January 17: Read page 253-254, took note on Great Darkness and Quebec status
in the 1950's. Looked at figure 16-11.
January 16: Took up homework, took note (Quebec timeline)
January 13: Read page 235-237 (American Influence) Looked at figure 15-7
(answered questions). Went over page 383 and answered question 1. Assigned
questions 8 and 14 on page 226.
January 12: Went over citations, peer edited essays.
January 11: Went over how to write an information paragraph. Had some
examples, read p.250 in textbook, page 152. Each student wrote an
information paragraph in class, on Mackenzie King.
January 10: Took up homework, did note on end of Cold War.
January 9: Reviewed U.N (terms), Cold War, major actions. Did page 339
#1,2,3,6, 8.
December 20: Page 269 #1 b,c,d. Page 277, #'s 5 and 6. summary paragraphes
on the Korean War, Suez Crisis.

December 5: More intro to essay, overheads on anti-semitism, class
discussion on rights of individual rather than that of the majority
December 2: Terminology Test: introduction to essay, topics, work sheet on
topics to be done from textbook.
December 1: Continued notes on D-Day. Read page 194, saw movie on Canadian
women during the war, looked at overhead of women's change in society.
November 30: Took notes on D-Day, Turn of the tide, movement of Canadians
through the Italy (Ortona)(read page 184). page 191 #6 homework)
Novmber 29: Took up summary, saw 3 different exerpts on battle of Atlantic.
(corvettes, subs, tactics, new technology to fight u-boats. hw: page 205 #6.
November 28: War in the Atlantic: (p.183 #4). Looked at figure 12-5. Read
Japanese-Canadians on page 201-202. Students assigned a summary paragraph on
this passage.
November 25: Did continuation note on Hitler's movement through Europe. Did
a timeline on key events in WW11. Took up homework page 177.
November 24: Movie, Canada Remembers: Did a work sheet on it. It was handed
in the next day.
November 23: Did note on blitzkrieg, did Scrapbook assignment in groups
concerning all aspects of WW11. HomeworkPage 173 #3 and page 177 #1 and 2.
November 22: Continued note on Hitler's offensive starting with Rhineland
continuing on with Poland (page 166) Talked about non- aggression pact, and
Sudetenland. Saw short film concerning Czechoslovakia, and Chamberlain.
Homework page 173, #1 and 2.
November 21: Did note on Hitler's rise to power and his control of the
state. Read page 165 in class. Took up page 166 #3. Took note on
appeasement.
NOvember 18: Continued on Hitler Youth movie, Talked about anti-Semitic views
in Germany and Canada and the World at the the time and the present (suicide
bombers, Israel. Read in class handout Building a "Racial State".
November 17: Continued on movie, did notes on Meinkaumpf. TAlked about
indoctrination: Started new movie and work sheet on "Hitler Youth".
November 16: did notes on concepts of Nazism, started movie and work sheet
on rise to power of Hitler "Helped into power".
November 15: Took up homework, did notes on Fascism, communism, in class did
page 166 #4. Hoemwork page 166 #3 a and b
November 14: Did note on League of Nations, took up homework, read over and
discussed page 155 Use of sanctions. Homework p. 166 #2.
November 11: Did assignment based on page 144, the New Deal. Also assigned
