A typical level 3 answer would include correct mathematical procedures but usually doesn't contain enough written explanation or examples to provide proof of understanding. Here is a typical Level 4 answer regarding Multiples.. Question. Which numbers are common multiples of 3 and 5? Show the steps you used. a) 15 b) 135 c) 100 d)50 15 is a multiple of 3 because 3 divides evenly into 15 with no remainder. ( 3 x 5 = 15) 15 is a multiple of 5 because 5 divides evenly into 15 with no remainder. (5 x 3 = 15) 135 is a multiple of 3 because 3 divides evenly into 135 with no remainder. ( 3 x 45 = 135) 135 is a multiple of 5 because 5 divides evenly into 135 with no remainder. ( 5 x 27 = 135) 100 is not a multiple of 3 as there is a remainder when I try to divide it in evenly. 100 is a multiple of 5 because 5 divides evenly into 100 with no remainder. (5 x 20 = 100) 50 is not a multiple of 3 as there is a remainder when I try to divide it in evenly. 50 is a multiple of 5 because 5 divides evenly into 50 with no remainder. ( 5 x 10 = 50) Therefore both a) 15 and b) 135 are multiples of 3 and 5 but c) 100 and d) 50 are not multiples of both 3 and 5 just the number 5.
