Hi there, my name is Sharon Crocker and I am an Educational Assistant at
Lakeside Public School. I have been an EA for 7 years and am now in my
second year at Lakeside. I started this career after many years as a
volunteer in my own children’s school and a few years back in school myself,
learning about special needs.
I am thrilled to be assisting in both kindergarten classes this year at
Lakeside. Children at this age are enthusiastic to explore their school
environment and show so much development within a year. I never get tired of
the wonderful stories that they are so eager to share!
Today, there are many different learning styles to be aware of when teaching
children. Understanding these styles and developing a plan to help them
shine is my job. Ms. Guselle and I will collaborate together to ensure the
success of all students.
When I’m not working, my favourite thing to do is spend time with my family.
I am married to my husband, Alvin and we have 2 great children. My daughter,
Alyssa is off to her first year of university to become a teacher. It is
very exciting for her and kind of sad for me to see her go! We are so proud
of her! My son just started grade 10 and yes he is a child who would much
rather be playing hockey or socializing with friends. His learning disability
makes academics challenging but I try to keep a sense of humour and support
him as he ventures through high school. So far, so good!
Other interests include gardening, reading, crafts, home decor and art.
I look forward to getting to know all the children in both kindergarten
classes and know we are going to have a great year together.
