A few students were at the University Fair today.  Today's lesson was on 
Translations, both vertical and horizontal. Absent students should catch up 
in their notes and HW.  HW:  1.4 P38 #3,9,10.

Introduction to Translations:  HW finish graph of y=x^2-5 and describe vertex 
and the transformation.

Finding the equation of a parabola with vertex at the origin from the graph.

Vertical Stretches of the basic graph y=x^2.
Using the basic graph of a parabola to sketch the graph of vertical stretches 
and reflections in the x-axis.

Took Round Robin problem in the HW and graphed on graphical calulator.

HW problems were taken up from yesterday on domain and range of relations in 
various forms.  A lesson today on Identify a Function was done at the board.  
HW textbook P12(1-6).  There will likely be a quiz later next week.  
Textbooks were given.  

Thursday September 10th
An introduction to functions, including definitions of a relation, domain and 
range was done.  3 HW questions were copied from the board.  

Wednesday September 9th
Review of linear and quadratic drelations and finite differences.

Tuesday September 8th
Welcome to grade 11 math!  Today is a short period.  A few grade 10 review 
questions were given for HW on a handout sheet.  Tomorrow we will have a 
lesson and homework.
