Where is Module Vanier located?
Module Vanier is a self contained unit on the 3rd floor of Kingston
Collegiate Vocational Institute

What are the school hours?
Vanier’s classes begin at 8:20 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Morning break is
from 10:00-10:15 a.m. and lunch runs from 12:05-1:00 p.m.

Is there transportation for students?
Limestone District School Board provides bus transportation for students
attending the French Immersion site in their area.

What happens at lunch time?
Students are supervised in KCVI’s cafeteria, where they can eat their
lunches or purchase one. KCVI students do not have the same lunch period.
Students can participate in activities in the gym, under supervision.

What about student safety?
As in all schools, Module Vanier follows the guidelines of the Safe Schools
Act 2000. Safety is a priority.

Does my child need to excel in French to succeed at Module Vanier?
No. Even with limited previous French knowledge, students can be successful
in 2nd language acquisition. Students need only to welcome challenges, be
willing to set goals, apply strategies to achieve them, and display self
motivation.

Do parents need to speak French?
No. Students at the junior high school level are expected to be responsible
for their own learning. Students should ask for clarification & extra help
from their teachers, when required.
