M. Parent - Salle 309

To the students and parents of 8C - Thank you so much for the wonderful food and drink that you so graciously provided for our réveillon. Great variety and oh, so much! Happy Holidays to all. See you January 4th, 2010!

We are going bowling tomorrow. Wear warm clothes. It is a long walk and it will be cold. We are leaving at 8:20 sharp.

Chocolat chaud will be sold on our return.

We are going to have a new Vanier website in the new year. All permission letters, calendar, schedule, pictures and newsletters will be posted on this website. http://mvu.limestone.on.ca/

Ask your child if he/she is doing their utmost to speak in French as often and to the best of their ability each and every day. C'est une des raisons d'être de notre programme!

HOMEWORK ROOM- available two days a week at lunch - Tuesday (Mme Ethier's room) and Friday (Mme Swift's room). This is to give you an opportunity to get caught up on any homework you are behind in. Take the initiative and ask M. Parent or any other teacher for a permission slip to attend.

PHYS. ED./DRAMA/ART

Phys. Ed. - every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - shorts, tee-shirt, running shoes - always period 4 (11:05 - 11:55). - some students (3 boys) seem to nearly always forget their stuff! Basketball is what we are currently doing.

MISCELLANEOUS

If your son/daughter would like additional opportunities to speak French and interact with primarily Francophone students in a very pleasant setting, check out Le Club Junior Optimiste Frontenac BFC Kingston. There are still a few spots left for any young people between the ages of 9 to 14 that wish to join the club. A fee of $50 exists but for this amount you can go climbing at the Boiler Room, bowl, skate at Market Square, go swimming at RMC, and go horseback riding in Parham to name but a few activities. If interested contact the club at the following e-mail address: optimistejunior@hotmail.com

Getting organized - A quick reference guide on how students can send themselves documents that they might want to work on at home and a school:

Step 1: Go to http://www.limestone.on.ca/

Step 2: Click on Portal Login (5th item on the left side menu)

Step 3: Click on the Student Portal button (green)

Step 4: Enter the same User ID and Password as when they login onto the computers at school.

Step 5: Click on My Mailbox.

Step 6. Create a new message.

Step 7. Click the Attach button to attach a saved file (Browse to find it)

Step 8: Send it to yourself.

Now everyone should be able to retrieve their work files from school or home. Students need to remember that First Class is a school too, not a chat room or MSN. If they are caught sending emails that are not schoolwork related they might lose their computer privileges.
