Philosophy of Teaching

All teachers recognize how important curriculum is to the education
system. We are constantly thinking about what we are going to teach,
how we are going to teach it, and how we are going to assess student
learning. I frequently reflect back on my own days as an elementary
student and on the teachers who left the most positive impression on
me. I find it interesting that my fondest memories have very little
to do with the actual curriculum being learned; to be quite honest I
dont remember all that much about what the lessons were like, or
how organized a particular teacher was. What I do remember, however,
are the teachers who made a genuine effort to make me feel like I
was a welcome and valued member of the classroom. I was blessed to
have been taught by some very special teachers who made learning so
much fun that I truly looked forward to attending school on a daily
basis.

What does all of this mean for your child? Let me begin by saying
that I will do my best to ensure that your child receives high
level, student focused instruction in all curriculum areas. Beyond
that, I will strive to provide a safe, welcome, and caring
environment that will hopefully result in each student arriving at
school with a smile and leaving at the end of the day with an even
bigger smile.

I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to teach your child.

Sincerely,

Mike Poluk
