Thank you for taking a look at my classroom web site! My name is Mike Poluk
and I am the grade 5 teacher at Parkland Public School. My background in
education includes two years as an Educational Assistant at Tarentorus
Public School (2003-2005) and one year of Teachers College at Nipissing
University (2005-2006). This is my second teaching opportunity at Parkland!
Two years ago, in my first year of teaching, I taught in the Intensive
Communication Class before moving on to Tarentorus last year where I taught
grade 5/6. I am very excited to be back at Parkland, teaching in a building
that is full of wonderful and energetic students and staff. It is my hope
that this web site will enhance the partnership and communication between
school and home, and help us work toward our common goal of improved student
learning. Thank you, and enjoy!
My goal for the classroom is to create a threat-free environment in which
all students feel comfortable to take risks and stretch out of their comfort
zone in order to achieve their goals. I want all students to realize that
they are important members of the classroom, and that they will be treated
with fairness and respect. Quality learning combined with outstanding
character and citizenship will make the classroom environment an enjoyable
experience for all students.
